In photographing people, I seek to capture an essential
experience, scene, character, expression. Experiences shooting images of
others lead to encounters and situations that may or may not have a pleasant
aspect, and have on occasion been overtly bizarre or disagreeable to philosophies
I possess. An ideal scenario allows for suspension of internal judgment,
opening up the possibility for a person to be captured for what they are
in that moment. Allowing the audience to witness these characters and acts
through the photograph enables subjects to speak for themselves, and, hopefully,
to narrate their own instant. |
